Girls achieve excellent examinations results. Thornton is regularly featured in 'The Times' Top Schools'. Placements in these tables are based on the percentage of A*/A grades at GCSE. We have also been placed among the top 40 state and independent schools in the UK in the value added tables. This means that the School is one of the most successful in the country for helping girls to achieve their very best, irrespective of their academic ability when they join.

Leavers' Destinations
All girls leave Thornton at the end of Year 11 to go to the Sixth Form school or college of their choice. We offer advice on the best Sixth Form option for them depending on the subjects they wish to pursue. Some girls join the local grammar or state schools, others opt for regional or national independent schools. We hold information on hundreds of schools and invite schools with Sixth Forms in to Thornton for an exhibition. Parents and pupils then have an opportunity to speak to representatives from many schools.
