Year 4 and 5 in the Isle of Wight- 05/05/2010
Wednesday's Report (received Thursday morning)
We have had another terrific day with the girls getting well and truly stuck in to all that is on offer here. Yesterday morning saw them visiting a 'crime scene' and gathering evidence in order to arrest and interrogate the suspect. They used their scientific skills to the full and were happy to suspend reality and be carried along by the drama. In the afternoon we were again doing a variety of physical challenges. Many children overcame fears of heights (including teachers!) in order to abseil and leap off a mighty tower to grab a trapeze - scary stuff. We are so proud of the girls and have noticed huge strides in their team building skills. The day ended on a very jolly note with a fantastic kareoke evening. It was good to get out of tracksuits and don our disco gear.
Everyone is tired but happy and we are looking forward to seeing you and sharing all our adventures!
Tuesday's Report (received Wednesday morning)
Latest from Little Cananda!
We had a lovely time with the girls sitting around the camp fire and toasting marshmallows last night, keeping warm singing songs and telling stories. We finished with bedtime prayers. The girls are sleeping really well and enjoying the physical challenges such as zip wires. A special mention for Molly and Ellie for overcoming their fears. Spent yesterday afternoon exploring different habitats such as salt marsh, woodland and meadow. The children worked very hard. We are looking forward to a very exciting activity this morning - 'forensic science investigation' where the children visit a crime scene and figure out who stole the painting! We have absailing and 'trapeze' this afternoon followed by disco and kareoke tonight. A great day for Emily to have her birthday.
Monday's Report
The group have settled in really quickly and are having a fabulous time. The latest from Mrs Darwin and Mrs Walker is: - "Francesca's birthday was super, she loved the birthday cake and enjoyed standing on the chair in front of hundreds people as we sang to her! Activities are great and very varied - including Ladder Logic, low ropes and a very scary Jacob's Ladder. The Great Egg Drop taught us all lots about science friction and impact. All girls are happy and we can assure every parent that there is NO need to worry. Even the poorly bunnies are on the mend.
We are all trying for an early night tonight as last night was all a little bit too exciting too sleep. The 5 am wake up call this morning was a little bit of a shock. The food is out of this world. The only criticism is that there is too much of it and too often!!"
