Year 11 students go to the Oxford Playhouse to watch 'Pride and Prejudice'- 16/03/2010

Stage adaptations of Jane Austen’s novels are few and far between; therefore the English department were delighted to be able to take the Year 11 pupils to the Oxford Playhouse on February 23rd to watch ‘Pride and Prejudice’ – the prose text set for their GCSE examination.  An extremely clever, witty and innovative adaptation brought the Regency setting to life and we all enjoyed watching the love story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy develop to its very satisfactory conclusion!  Many of the young actors had only recently graduated, but their performances were lively.  The cast was ably led by Susan Hampshire and Michael Bates as Mr and Mrs Bennet.
