'The Wriggly Nativity'- 10/12/2009

Have you ever been so excited that you can’t sit still? Well the children at Thornton College certainly couldn’t! With Christmas approaching, all the girls from Reception to Year 3 narrated, danced, sang and wriggled their way through the Christmas story with Year 3 taking the lead.

The scene setting by Mary and the Angel Gabriel lead into a perfectly memorised seven verse poem, confidently delivered by Year 3 which gave us an overview of the story. They moved seamlessly on to a progressive introduction of all the well known characters of the Nativity, including stars, angels, donkeys, sheep, cows, shepherds and kings, pages and camels, as well as the Innkeepers who were the first to greet Mary and Joseph as they arrived in Bethlehem.

The Angel Gabriel and the Bethlehem Star had silent but pertinent roles and all the cast played their characters superbly. We all eagerly awaited the obligatory mistakes of ‘The Christmas Nativity’…..but none came! Well, girls, that really must be a first! How proud we all are!
