New Teaching Block Update

We are delighted to report that the construction of the new teaching block which started in February is proceeding to plan and with few problems. The quality of the work of the builders and the materials used has been praised by the architects and they are very happy with progress to date.

We are hopeful that it will be completed at the end of November and ready in time for us to start using the building for teaching when the girls return in the New Year.

We have been most fortunate with the dry weather during the building of this wonderful facility, other than the wetter than normal August!

There will be five classrooms dedicated to the junior school including an IT Suite all situated on the ground floor, with the first floor consisting of four science laboratories and two prep-rooms. One of the laboratories is again dedicated to the Junior School and the others allocated to Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

The staff have been having “sneak previews” of the building with tours from the Bursar and they are all getting very excited about the design, aspect and space as well as the plans for computing, inter-active whiteboards and the proposed broadband to replace the satellite connection now in use.

There has been a certain amount of inconvenience for staff and girls who are located at the part of the existing building that will be joined to the new block, but we are delighted with the co-operation from the builders and architects during this difficult time.

We will be having an official opening in the New Year, and more on this will be announced later.

If you have any questions about this new facility please contact the Bursar.
