All boarding schools have regular inspections. Thornton was last inspected by the Commission for Social Care in 2006. This inspection focussed on our boarding care and provision. This was a three-day inspection carried out by two inspectors. In addition to the inspection days, questionnaires were sent to all parents of boarders and to boarders themselves.
In the summary of findings, the inspectors wrote:
"The overall judgement on boarding welfare following this inspection was that boarding pupils were very well cared for in a safe and well managed boarding environment by a dedicated and caring team of teaching and boarding staff. This overall judgement was supported by the very positive comments made by boarders about their experience of boarding in their questionnaires and by the high level of satisfaction expressed by parents of boarders in their response to the ISI pre-inspection questionnaire." |
